1) Youth Support Worker - Job Description

Bluefront Care is a provider of supported living services for Looked After Children aged 16 – 25 years old.

We are looking for Youth Support Workers with a passion for supporting and safeguarding young people to join our amazing team.

In this role, you will be working closely with young people, colleagues, professionals and within the community to promote young people’s welfare. You will support young people to complete activities to promote their independence, and ensure any concerns are recorded and reported in line with our policies and procedures.

We are looking for staff who are good problem solvers, creative thinkers and who can think on their feet. You will need to be comfortable lone working when required and have basic computer skills as you will updating our bespoke online record keeping system. Mostly we are looking for staff who thrive on achieving success and enjoy making a positive difference to the lives of our young people.

To create a safe, nurturing and enabling environment where young people gain key life skills that ensure that they achieve their full potential to enjoy a purposeful future.

The role:

  • Organises social, recreational, and educational activities in local community and for young people
  • Liaises with other community groups and professionals in supporting young people to acquire independent skills
  • Advises individuals with particular needs or problems through informal discussion, individual counselling, or formal group discussion
  • Encouragement and development of life skills to promote independence
  • Attending relevant meetings with professionals and with other community organisation that promote wellbeing of young people
  • Safeguarding young people and reporting any concerns in relation to safeguarding
  • Ensuring all documents and reports are completed
  • Providing a positive, welcoming and stimulating environment for young people
  • Performing other ad hoc duties as required

Required Attributes

  • NVQ Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce (RQF) or willing to work towards such qualification and beyond.
  • At least one year working with young people or similar vulnerable people
  • A good level of spoken and written English and ability to connect with young people
  • MUST be flexible with hours of work
  • Valid Enhanced DBS certificate (issued within last 3 months) or willing to undergo a DBS check


Salary/Contract:

Contract is annual salary of £10.20 per hour (Flexible shifts - full time, daytimes, evenings, sleep-in shifts available).
